– Call given by CP P. Sai Chaitanya during National Road Safety Month celebrations
Nizamabad, January 13 (Gatla News): Police Commissioner P. Sai Chaitanya appealed to the public to follow traffic rules and save lives. Speaking at the National Road Safety Month celebrations held at the Rajiv Gandhi Auditorium in the district center on Tuesday, he addressed the issue of controlling road accidents. He expressed concern that more people died in road accidents in 2020-21 than those who died due to COVID-19. He said that while people were safe during the COVID-19 pandemic by wearing masks, many are losing their lives due to negligence while driving, by not wearing seat belts and helmets. He stated that while 200 people died due to Corona in the last two years, 250 people died in road accidents in 2025. He advised everyone to drive safely to ensure the safety of their families. He reminded everyone that not a single road accident occurred in Finland last year. He suggested that the special program called ‘Arrive Alive’, launched by the State Director General of Police to control accidents, should be carried forward like a sacred mission. The Police Commissioner appealed to everyone to strictly follow three principles while driving. Everyone should follow traffic rules, especially young people should avoid speeding and drive slowly, refrain from using mobile phones while driving, and wear helmets mandatorily, they emphasized. On this occasion, international boxing player and Arjuna Award recipient Husamuddin spoke, mentioning that his family lost a member in a road accident. Dr. Ramaneshwar, a neurosurgeon from Vishnu Super Specialty Hospital, advised everyone to drive safely, wear helmets, and avoid using cell phones while driving to reach their destinations safely. Subsequently, a road safety pledge was administered, and T-shirts and placards with slogans related to traffic rules were launched. 100 helmets were distributed free of charge to motorists courtesy of Vishnu Super Specialty Hospitals. The event was attended by Nizamabad Additional DCP (Admin) B. Baswareddy, District Transport Officer Uma Maheshwar, RTC Depot Manager B.S. Anand, IMA President Dr. A.
