Nizamabad, February 27 (Gatla News): In view of the specialty of Nizamabad district in turmeric cultivation, Collector Ila Tripathi on Friday visited the turmeric fields in the outskirts of Munipalli. He inspected the turmeric cultivation field belonging to Aluri Pedda Mallaiah with interest. He asked the farmer about the turmeric cultivation method, soil type, and suitable varieties and got to know the details. Similarly, the farmers brought to the attention of the collector about the processing process in stages such as the method of digging turmeric, boiling method, processing method, and storing the turmeric crop in cold storage. He said that due to the adherence to quality standards in turmeric, turmeric fetches a good price in the market, and turmeric with a high moisture content fetches a low rate. The farmers explained to the collector on this occasion that the crop with a moisture content of 12-15 is currently fetching a good rate in the market. However, due to untimely rains, the turmeric is getting wet and its quality is deteriorating and it is being lost, and the village sarpanch Musku Sai Reddy submitted a petition to the collector requesting the establishment of community gullies. The collector was accompanied by Armur Sub-Collector Abhigyan Malviya, District Horticulture Officer Srinivas, Mandal Horticulture Officer Raju, Mandal Agriculture Officer Devika, AEO Bhaskar Nayak, Marketing, Revenue officers and farmers.
