Nizamabad, April 11 (Gatla News): The birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule were celebrated with great grandeur on Saturday. The event was organized under the aegis of the District Backward Classes Development Department at the Munnuru Kapu Kalyana Mandapam in Dubba. Earlier in the day, Urban MLA Dhanpal Suryanarayana Gupta, Collector Ila Tripathi, City Mayor K. Umarani, In-charge Additional Collector Dilip Kumar, and representatives of various BC associations paid floral tributes to the statue of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule located in Vinayakanagar. Speaking on the occasion, Collector Ila Tripathi remarked that the efforts undertaken by Mahatma Jyotiba Phule to eradicate the social ills plaguing the society of his time—which was rife with numerous restrictions—were truly remarkable. She recalled that despite facing obstacles and humiliations at every step, Phule remained undeterred and labored tirelessly to eliminate social evils. She further noted that, recognizing education as an indispensable tool for the downtrodden sections of society to achieve equality, he worked extensively to ensure access to education for them; specifically, he established the very first school dedicated to the education of women. She added that, in recognition of his contributions, the government has renamed the BC Gurukuls (residential schools) as ‘Jyotiba Phule Schools’ and is providing them with high-quality food and accommodation facilities. He stated that our lives attain true significance only when we walk the path shown by great personalities and strive to realize their ideals. He called upon everyone to follow the path laid by Jyotiba Phule and to work earnestly toward achieving his objectives. Speaking at the birth anniversary commemoration, Mayor Umarani and In-charge Additional Collector Dilip Kumar lauded the efforts undertaken by Jyotiba Phule to foster social awareness. District BC Welfare Officer Narsayya, along with leaders of various BC associations—including Bussa Anjaneyulu, Narala Sudhakar, Narender Goud, Ravinder, and others—participated in the event.
