Nizamabad, March 08 (Gatla News): Collector Ila Tripathi advised parents to make it mandatory for all girls between the ages of 14-15 to get the HPV vaccine, which is being provided free of cost by the government to prevent cervical cancer.
The HPV vaccine launch program was organized at the Nizamabad Government General Hospital on Sunday under the auspices of the District Medical and Health Department. Collector Ila Tripathi was the chief guest and formally launched the program. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that the HPV vaccine is very useful and by taking it, up to 95 percent of cervical cancer can be prevented. The Collector suggested that there should be no misconceptions about this vaccine and that no one should be worried and that 12,363 girls aged 14-15 in the district should be vaccinated against HPV in mission mode. He said that till now it was available only in private hospitals and that the government is currently providing this vaccine free of cost with the aim of eradicating cervical cancer.
He suggested that this vaccine will also be given in GGH, Dichpally, Dharpally, Navipet, Varni, Mortad, Balkonda and Armur Community Health Centers in the district. He said that those who have been vaccinated should take a certificate and this certificate will be useful for the health profile that the Telangana government will make available soon. Meanwhile, some of those who have taken the vaccine may experience symptoms like fatigue and fever due to physical weakness, and it is enough to take a paracetamol tablet without worrying too much, said District Medical and Health Officer Dr. Rajshri.
The Collector cut a cake and congratulated the girls who came to get vaccinated on International Women’s Day.
District Immunization Officer Dr. Ashok, GGH Superintendent Dr. Srinivas, Deputy Superintendent Dr. Ramulu, DCHS Dr. Srinivas Prasad, Deputy DMHO Dr. Ashwini, Nursing Superintendent Chandrakala and others participated in the program.
