Delhi, February 24 (Gatla News): Dr. Sameer Shah, who is of Indian origin, has been selected as the new chairman of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) for the first time. 72 year-old Sameer was born in Aurangabad, India. Later he migrated to Britain in 1960. Samir, who has four decades of experience in the field of TV production and journalism, previously served as a non-executive director of the BBC. He worked as the head of contemporary and political affairs at the BBC. His appointment was officially announced on Thursday after Britain’s King Charles-III gave his seal of approval to the relevant selection process this week. Sameer, who will continue in this post for four years from March 4, will receive an annual salary of around Rs 1.68 crore. In 2019, Sameer was honored with the Commander of the Order of the British Empire by the late British Queen Elizabeth-II for his outstanding contribution to the British television industry. He has been running Jupiter TV since 1998.
