– ‘Arrive – Alive’ Village Assemblies Held Across the District
Nizamabad, April 13 (Gatla News): Collector Ila Tripathi has issued a call for everyone to work together unitedly to control road accidents. As part of the ‘Praja Palana – Pragathi Plan’ (Public Administration – Progress Plan) 99-day action agenda, ‘Arrive – Alive’ village assemblies were conducted on Monday across all Gram Panchayat jurisdictions in the district, presided over by the respective Sarpanches. As part of this initiative, District Collector Ila Tripathi participated as the chief guest in a village assembly held at Pipri village in Armoor Mandal. In the presence of the Collector, a nine-member Road Safety Committee—comprising Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, and other village elders—was elected to work towards the control of road accidents. The members were administered a pledge to strive with sincerity and dedication to prevent road accidents. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector expressed deep anguish over the fact that countless road accidents occur in our country and state, resulting in the loss of many lives and, consequently, the shattering of numerous families. She stated that, driven by a resolve to curb these accidents, top-ranking officials—including the State Chief Secretary and the DGP—are implementing programs under the banner of ‘Arrive – Alive’ to raise public awareness and encourage active community participation. Recognizing the significance of these initiatives, the Collector urged everyone to become active participants and contribute their share towards the control of road accidents. He advised two-wheeler riders not to view a helmet as a burden, emphasizing that they must invariably wear this headgear, which serves as a life-saver during accidents; similarly, he urged those traveling in cars to strictly adhere to the rule of wearing seat belts. He instructed everyone to follow traffic regulations without deviation and cautioned against dangerous practices such as driving on the wrong side of the road or driving under the influence of alcohol. He guided the village elders to establish a WhatsApp group dedicated to these matters in order to create widespread public awareness. Furthermore, he urged everyone to take the initiative to provide immediate assistance to victims in the event of road accidents. He informed the gathering that the government offers a financial incentive of ₹25,000 under the ‘Rah-Veer’ scheme to those who demonstrate such initiative. He called upon the people to dispel any misconceptions that helping accident victims might lead to legal complications or difficulties, and instead to strive earnestly to save precious human lives. On this occasion, several resolutions were passed during the village assembly. Unanimous resolutions were adopted to completely ban the use of plastic in the village starting from May 1st; to provide suitable rewards—while strictly maintaining anonymity—to those who provide information regarding the sale of cannabis or other narcotics; to make it mandatory for every resident of the village to wear a helmet; to educate farmers against the practice of drying grain on public roads; and to ban the use of DJs, which contribute to noise pollution. Sarpanch Kiran presided over this Gram Sabha, which was attended by Deputy Transport Commissioner Durga Pramila, District Transport Officer Umamaheswara Rao, MPDO Shivaji, Tahsildar Satyanarayana, MPO Srinivas, Armoor SHO Satyanarayana, MVI Rahul Kumar, Panchayat Secretary Murali, and the villagers.
