– Tributes Paid to the Former Prime Minister at the District Congress Party Office

Nizamabad, May 21 (Gatla News): District Congress Party President Nagesh Reddy stated that Rajiv Gandhi serves as an inspiration to the youth of today. On Thursday, marking the death anniversary of Bharat Ratna, the late Rajiv Gandhi, grand tributes were paid to him. Under the leadership of District Congress President Nagesh Reddy and City Congress President Bobbili Ramakrishna, floral garlands were placed at the District Congress Party office and at the Rajiv Gandhi statue located in Vinayaka Nagar. Subsequently, in accordance with directives from the PCC (Pradesh Congress Committee), fruits and packets of bread were distributed at the Government Hospital in Nizamabad at the hands of Nagesh Reddy. Speaking on this occasion, District Congress Committee President Nagesh Reddy recalled that after Indira Gandhi was assassinated by terrorists, Rajiv Gandhi assumed the office of Prime Minister in 1984 and ushered in monumental changes within the country. He noted that, in alignment with Mahatma Gandhi’s vision, Rajiv Gandhi accorded constitutional status to Gram Panchayats through the 73rd and 74th Constitutional Amendments, thereby ensuring that funds for rural development flowed directly to the villages. Furthermore, he highlighted that through the 61st Constitutional Amendment in 1988, the voting age for the nation’s youth was lowered from 21 years to 18 years. He asserted that this move provided the youth of the country with the opportunity to participate directly in active politics, serving as a testament to Rajiv Gandhi’s visionary thinking. He stated that Rajiv Gandhi was instrumental in developing the telecommunications sector and that the introduction of the Maruti car—featuring Japanese technology—into the country was made possible solely through his encouragement. He noted that Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated by terrorists in Perambudur, Tamil Nadu, in 1991, and that the day of his assassination is observed annually as National Anti-Terrorism Day. He urged the people of the nation to strive to carry forward the legacy of service and the ideals championed by Rajiv Gandhi. He emphasized that the Rajiv Gandhi family has made immense sacrifices for the country, and that neither the citizens of the nation nor the leaders of the Congress party would ever forget his contributions. He added that in Telangana, under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the Congress government is moving forward by fulfilling every promise made during the elections, and affirmed that in the days to come, the Congress party would continue to stand firmly in support of the downtrodden and weaker sections of society. Nagesh Reddy expressed confidence that the party would undoubtedly achieve a resounding victory in the upcoming parliamentary elections and ensure that Rahul Gandhi becomes the Prime Minister. Speaking on the occasion, City Congress Committee President Bobbili Ramakrishna remarked that the death anniversary of the late Rajiv Gandhi is being observed as National Anti-Terrorism Day. He was lauded as a brilliant intellectual who, having been elected Prime Minister at the young age of 40, guided the youth of the nation toward the 21st century. Participating in this event were State Urdu Academy Chairman Taher Bin Hamdan, Mayor Umarani, PCC General Secretary Ram Bhupal, District Library Corporation Chairman Anthareddy Raja Reddy, District Congress Treasurer Bhaktavatsalam, District Congress Vice President Tara Chand, District Youth Congress President Vipul Goud, District ST Cell President Yadagiri, District Fisheries Chairman Srinivas, City Congress Treasurer Sakinala Shiva Prasad, Jenda Gudi Chairman Lavanga Pramod, along with Pola Usha, Aparna, Swapna, Ade Praveen, Raj Gagan, and others.
